May 15-17, 2009, Port Jefferson, New York: JASNA’s Greater New York Region will sponsor a weekend event, “Travel & Transportation in the Time of Jane Austen.” Speakers include Sandy Lerner, founder of Chawton House Library and an expert on Regency era horse-drawn vehicles, Professor Janine Barchas of the University of Texas, and Professor Michael Simon of SUNY Stony Brook. Other activities include a welcome tea and cookies, an original stage production by Lynn Marie Macy, a dinner cruise on Long Island Sound, and a visit to The Long Island Museum of American Art, History & Carriages.
