Join JASNA-NJ on Saturday, July 15th for an in-person tour of Point Breeze to celebrate Bastille Day and celebrate Jane Austen’s “French connections.”
“If you can persuade Henry to marry, you must have the address of a Frenchwoman.”
-Mary Crawford, Mansfield Park (Chapter 4)

On July 15th at 9:20am, JASNA-NJ will meet at the Bordentown Historical Society to explore Point Breeze, the home of Napoleon Bonaparte’s brother, Joseph.
The Historical Society is located at
302 Farnsworth Ave.
Bordentown, NJ
Our excursion will begin with a private, one-hour tour of the Historical Society’s Point Breeze exhibit, which contains Empire-style sofas and side boards, paintings, china, books, silverware, and even a lock of Joseph Bonaparte’s hair!

Following the exhibit, we will travel to Point Breeze (1 mile away) for an hour-long tour of the grounds. Please note that the tour of the grounds will often take place on trails or the grass – there are no paved paths. Good walking shoes are recommended. Channel your inner Lizzie Bennet for an invigorating walk!
RSPV ASAP to jasnanewjersey@gmail.com if you would like to join us!
The tours are free, but we suggest a $5 cash donation to the Bordentown Historical Society in thanks for its hospitality and to support its ongoing efforts preserving NJ history. Donations can be made to JASNA officer Catherine Monte at the event.
No official lunch is scheduled, but in your email let JASNA-NJ know if you’re interested in going out with your fellow tour attendees to a local eatery for lunch.
This is a great way to appreciate NJ history, as well as to celebrate Bastille Day on July 14th!
