- Recipe for Persuasion: by Somali Dev is a modern retelling of Jane Austen’s Persuasion featuring chef Ashanti Raje, who must save her family’s failing Indian restaurant by joining a reality TV cooking show, Cooking with the Stars. There, she is unexpectedly paired with her high school sweetheart and former love, Rico Silva, a famous soccer star, forcing them to confront their past and rekindle their romance amidst family drama and the pressures of fame.
- Captain Wentworth’s Diary: by Amanda Grange is a retelling of Persuasion from the perspective of Captain Frederick Wentworth, detailing his backstory and inner thoughts as he falls in love with Anne Elliot, is rejected, and later reunites with her as a wealthy naval captain. The book explores his journey from a poor, ambitious officer to a successful captain, focusing on his bitterness after the initial heartbreak and his renewed feelings for Anne years later, providing insight into his character and motivations.
- By the Book: by Julia Sonneborn is a contemporary debut novel that reimagines Jane Austen’s Persuasion within the setting of modern-day academia. The story follows Anne Corey, an English professor at the fictional Fairfax College in California, who is struggling to secure tenure while managing her aging father’s care.
