I was reading thought a lot of saved blog posts I have and noticed that a number of them were book reviews and a few of them I thought would be of interest to our group.
Review: While We Were Watching Downton Abbey by Wendy Wax
Originally posted at Beth Fish Reads on June 20, 2013
“As it turns out, you don’t have to be a Downton Abbey fan to understand the novel. In fact, you needn’t have watched even one episode to enjoy the story, which centers around three women living in the Alexander, a high-class Atlantic apartment building, who bond after they join a buildingwide weekly viewing of the television series.”
When I read this opening to the review I was excited. I had seen this book published and shared it on our Facebook and Twitter feeds but didn’t think about reading it myself since I don’t watch the show. I know, I know I need too and I’m planning on starting soon. I did pick the book up this weekend so I’ll be reading it soon and will have a review for you sometime in September!
Close to Shore: A True Story of Terror in an Age of Innocence by Michael Capuzzo

“Are you searching for a beach read? Look no further… I have just the book for you! Michael Capuzzo’s Close to Shore: A True Story of Terror in an Age of Innocence will keep you on the edge of your seat (and perhaps out of the water!) This page-turning drama chronicles a series of fatal shark attacks that occurred off the coast of New Jersey during the summer of 1916.”
I thought this would be an interesting read you guys might be interested in since it’s summer and the Jersey Shore related! I hope to read this soon, but I’m getting a bit backed up so it might not be until the fall. If anyone reads this before me, please let me know what you thought about it!
