From a letter from Fuschia Films:

We are delighted to share with you the news of our upcoming film, Jane Austen- Overcoming Pride & Prejudice. We are currently in the early production stage of this feature length documentary film, and have already filmed some of the exciting events taking place around the UK to mark this special 200th anniversary year of Pride & Prejudice’s publication, as well as interviews with major actors and academics. We are delighted to have met many members of Jane Austen Societies from all over the world so far, and to be sharing news about this fascinating film with Jane Austen lovers everywhere.

Fuschia Films sees Jane Austen as a pioneer, and explores through this film why her writing is still so relevant and poignant today, and how she was able to achieve so much in a world where women had so few rights, and woman’s suffrage was still a century away in the distant future. Sue Pomeroy, the Director, has an impressive background and expertise in Jane Austen, having adapted Pride & Prejudice for the stage and directed several ‘sell out’ productions for No. 1 UK tour with star studded casts. She has worked at the highest level at the National Theatre, the Berliner Ensemble, as Artistic Director of the Warehouse Theatre Croydon and her shows have performed nationally ( Bath Theatre Royal, Swan Theatre Royal – Royal Shakespeare Company, Bristol Old Vic, South Bank Centre, London’s Richmond Theatre to name a few) and internationally, as well as for BBC Radio 4 and Thames Television.
