Meet the Janeites – Sarah Rose

Name: Sarah Rose

How did you become a Janeite?  I started young: I read “Pride and Prejudice” and “Sense and Sensibility” first, though it was “Persuasion” (when I was about 13) that really converted me. I fell in love with it.

Favorite Jane Austen Novel?  Persuasion

Favorite Character?  Anne Elliot

Favorite Movie Adaptation?  Emma Thompson and Ang Lee’s “Sense and Sensibility.”

Any Sequels or Adaptations you enjoy?  “The Jane Austen Project” by Kathleen Flynn — does that count? Also Jo Baker’s “Longbourn.”

Anything else you want to share?  I wrote a stage play based on “Persuasion,” which [was] performed at The Players Club in New York City on April 9th, and I’m quite excited about it!

Note: a few of our members went and really enjoyed the play!
