JASNA 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM) Registration Opens Soon!

Just a heads up that the JASNA 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM)registration will open June 15th. The event will take place September 30th-October 2nd, with both in-person and virtual components. Link to the website here, with more information about the different speakers, events, and location in beautiful Victoria, BC.

Our chapter’s own Deborah Yaffe, author of Among the Janeites (hey, that’s all of us) will be speaking on the subject of “Two Cheers for Edward Ferrars.” Will we all be convinced that Edward “Lucy Steele Who?” Ferrars is really a rival in swoony-ness with Mr. Darcy and Captain Wentworth? I’m skeptical, but if there’s anyone who can possibly, er, persuade me, it’s Deborah Yaffe.

Also, nominees for JASNA’s board of directors are due by July 1, 2022. From a recent JASNA email:

Please provide the nominee’s name, address, telephone number, and email address; a brief description of their JASNA activities (local and/or national); special skills that would be helpful to the board; and assurance that the nominee is willing to serve and attend all AGMs. Questions may be directed to any member of the Nominating Committee: Chair Susan Jelen (North Texas) at sjelen3@gmail.com, Carolyn Brown (Mississippi) at carolynjbrown1212@gmail.com, and Elizabeth Steele (Eastern Pennsylvania) at liza_janeite@hotmail.com. Send nominations and candidates’ information to Jelen using the subject line “JASNA Nomination,” or by mail to 4213 Prospect Lane, Plano, Texas 75093.

Speaking of being persuasive, finally, a new much-buzzed about Pride & Prejudice spinoff, Debating Darcy, is now available for purchase on Amazon, at other book retailers, and in libraries. I know a few readers and followers of this blog have already read and enjoyed it.
