In-Person Emma Fanfic Discussion!

Join JASNA-NJ on May 18th at 1pm EDT (note the change from our usual time) IN PERSON at Lady Magpie’s Tea & Curiosities, a steampunk-themed teashop in Tuckerton, NJ to discuss three works of Emma-inspired fanfiction.  Lady Magpie’s has a menu that ranges from single items, such as a pot of tea or a scone to a full Captain’s Tea. Registration will be limited to the first 18 members. Please email the region to RSVP. jasnanewjersey@gmail.com

The three books we will be discussing (no obligation to read all, or even one, to attend) include:

Emma of 83rd Street by Audrey Bellezza and Emily Harding, a rom-com spin on Austen’s tale featuring Emma Woodhouse, a fashion-obsessed Upper East Side art graduate student. Emma whiles away her last easy semester at NYU matchmaking and being irritated by her neighbor Knightley, the founder of an ecologically-focused startup.

Emmett by Lev A.C. Rosen, described by the publisher as a modern-day gay YA Emma, is equally as inspired by Clueless as the original, and features a hero who has decided that while he personally doesn’t want to date, he’s only too happy to play matchmaker with his friends.

Wrong About the Guy by Claire LaZebnik about a totally not-spoiled stepdaughter of a famous TV star whose only problem is she is being tutored by the extremely annoying George Nussbaum.

In addition to the book discussion and tea, we will also host an informal book exchange. Bring a book you’d like to rehome, and other members can take it with them at their leisure! (Please note that books that have not been rehomed will need to leave the tea house with their original owner at the end of the meeting.) You also don’t need to bring a book to take a book.
