Have you set your reading goal for 2022? Do you keep track via Goodreads? Or another planner app? Perhaps on paper?
“Emma has been meaning to read more ever since she was twelve years old. I have seen a great many lists of her drawing-up at various times of books that she meant to read regularly through-and very good lists they were-very well chosen, and very neatly arranged-sometimes alphabetically, and sometimes by some other rule.” -Mr. Knightley, Emma, Chapter 5

Alas, Emma lived in the days before Book It! Perhaps a personal pan Pizza Hut pizza, especially with austere Mr. Woodhouse as a gruel-loving father, might have been some incentive to read more.
Regardless, may there be no Mr. Knightleys around to give you shade for not reading quickly enough in 2022. Although perhaps the lesson to be learned from Emma is to make up a TBR list of the type of books you want to read (alphabetically or not), not books that simply seem improving or worthy. By the end of the year, may your reading leave you with the reaction of Elizabeth Bennet upon reading Mr. Darcy’s famous letter: “Till this moment, I never knew myself.”
