Join JASNA NJ for Brunch/Tea and a tour of Bryn Athyn Cathedral on Sunday, October 23rd

Join JASNA-NJ on Sunday, October 23 as we meet for Brunch/Tea at the Be Well Bakery in Richboro, PA followed by a tour of Bryn Athyn Cathedral in Bryn Athyn, PA.

This trip has been a long time in the anticipation and planning stages, since the pandemic derailed our plan visit to celebrate Northanger Abbey‘s publication pre-pandemic!

Our day will begin at the Be Well Bakery at 11:00 AM in Richboro, PA.  Be Well Bakery offers an array of dishes, beverages and of course, desserts. Please click this link to view the menu and address. A wide variety of diets can be accommodated (including gluten-free), and both savory and sweet foods are available!

If you are not joining us at Be Well Bakery, we will move on to the Bryn Athyn Cathedral next, meeting there at 1:15 PM.

The Bryn Athyn Cathedral is situated on a hill overlooking the picturesque Pennypack Creek Valley in the borough of Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania.

According to the website, the main construction of the Cathedral took place between the years 1913 and 1928 with work on the stained glass windows and interior decoration continuing into the early 1940s and beyond. The main Cathedral building is Gothic in style, while the northern and southern buildings are in the early Romanesque style. It’s a little touch of the type of English and European Gothic as experienced by Catherine Morland in the novel!

“Over 300 local artisans built this Gothic and Romanesque Cathedral onsite during the height of the American Arts & Crafts Movement using old world craftsmanship.  Deep pink and soft green granite was quarried less than a mile away, great oak trees were felled on the property that were used in ceiling timbers, dedicated masters worked tirelessly to rediscover the lost art of medieval stained glass, and Monel metal is used in doors, door handles, gates, and the keys that open them.

The price for the tour is $5 per person.
